Mark has been invited to be a guest speaker at the Census Bureau’s subgroup on SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity) in proxy research meeting in July! They are interested in hearing about our work identifying gender minorities in population-based proxy surveys!
While true population estimates for gender minorities are unknown, crafting survey questions to include explicit gender minority options increases the likelihood of family members identifying this population. However, societal stigma around this topic prevents many surveys from even asking the question. MDR is working to forward the state of this emerging topic area.
