Since 2017, MDR has administered the required Mental Health Statistics Improvement Program (MHSIP) surveys for several states. We are well-versed in the research protocols necessary for implementing and administering these surveys and are intimately familiar with the analysis and reporting requirements. Our team has provided comprehensive research reports that include trending analysis, and we help states meet federal reporting requirements through the Universal Reporting System, as mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Our work extends beyond the administration of core MHSIP survey items. We collaborate with agencies to enhance their surveys, enabling the collection of more detailed information on issues and concerns. These enhancements have allowed other agencies to use survey data to implement quality improvement efforts that better meet the needs of their patients. By incorporating quality improvement and open-ended questions, we have been able to more accurately identify pressing service needs. Our deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders ensures that our final products not only meet high standards of quality but are also developed through a strategic planning process grounded in Universal Design principles. This approach ensures that every aspect of our work is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of all individuals.

MDR’s experience spans several states, including Maine, Oregon, and Wyoming. In addition to our work on MHSIP surveys, we have conducted numerous patient and consumer experience surveys for clients across the nation. With over 25 years of experience in collecting and analyzing data to inform public policy, MDR has completed hundreds of assignments in this area. For a company of our size, we are unique in our ability to collect data via a variety of methods using in-house resources. We focus on technically robust data collection and analysis to ensure that the data we provide is accurate and that our clients gain deeper insights from it.
