Data Equity Technical Assistance Initiative

MDR is proud to support the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research’s Data Equity Center in advancing more inclusive and representative approaches to population health data. This collaborative initiative aims to reimagine how health data are designed, collected, analyzed, and shared – ensuring that systems reflect and respect the lived experiences of all communities, especially those historically marginalized or underrepresented.

As part of this work, MDR provides technical assistance to public agencies, researchers, and community-based organizations seeking to apply a data equity lens to their practices. This includes training and consultation on equitable survey design, culturally responsive data collection methods, inclusive sampling strategies, and meaningful community engagement throughout the research lifecycle.

Through this partnership, MDR helps clients build data systems that are not only methodologically sound but also grounded in values of equity, collaboration, and transparency. This supports efforts to close data gaps, elevate community voices, and drive health equity.

Data Equity Center is a collaborative initiative to focus equity on the way that health data are designed, collected, analyzed, and shared so that they reflect and respect the lived experiences of all communities.
