Research Tip

    Avoid asking a focus group moderator to “just ask” the questions in a discussion guide. Respondents can best recall the information you want to know if they are accessing the stories of their experiences. Interrupting these stories with a question and answer session destroys the flow that can get breakthrough information.

    Training for Intercept Interviews - 09/09/10

    With in-person or intercept interviews, allow enough time and funding to brief and train interviewers on the survey and its objectives. If the survey will take place over a large geographical area, make sure that your research team handles training directly, even if this is over the phone.
